Give your opinion on the following statement " An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"

I think that what this proverb is trying to say is that it's not good to take revenge and to pay someone back with the same coin, or if you were treated badly, you should treat someone badly too. If we all started revenge on the people who have done us wrong, the world would be a much darker place, and I wouldn't want to live there.
